This fic will not make much sense if you haven't read the prequel (http://jemimap.ficml.org/sg1/ship/dove.html). The tildes in Sam~~&Jack~ are a notation from Trek fandom to keep track of the AU versions of a character. Technically there should be a few more ~'s in there, but it's late.
